ARE YOU A MARTHA OR MARY
NRT Contributor returns with a new devotional soaked in scripture guaranteed to lift your spirits and encourage spiritual growth.

By heartfelt

There are so many things in life that you and I can choose to worry about—-our finances, job security, paying the bills, or a sickness you or a loved one may be facing. The list goes on and on. Our minds may continually be bombarded with worries and fears that the enemy throws at us, but we must learn to cast them down. As we spend quality time with our heavenly Father, those burdens will begin to vanish. It is not our job to fret. No, it is our job to trust God and obey. The Scriptures even tells us that the battle is the Lord’s:

All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.(1 Sam. 17:47)

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still. (Exodus 14:13-14)

Sometimes all God wants you and me to do is to be still and let Him fight our battles. That is hard to do because we sometimes feel as though we have to do something to help God in our situation.

Let’s look at the Bible story where Jesus was at the home of Martha and Mary. (Luke 10:38-41). As Jesus and His disciples were on their way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to Him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work for myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken from her.”

Don’t we go through life worried and upset about many things? We worry from the time we wake up in the morning until the time we go to bed. How are we getting the kids off to
school today? Where are we getting the money to pay the rent? Mom is sick with cancer. Work has us stressed out. We do not know what to do, so what do we keep doing? We keep trying to figure something out and devise up our own plan. When we do we are not fully relying on the Lord to help us with our circumstances. We are trying to make our own agenda fit into God’s will for our lives, but if we look to God, He always opens the right door at exactly the right time. God’s way is always better then our own way. He is all wise and knowing. That means we need to sit still like Mary, seek the Lord, pray and trust His all knowing power daily. I know it is easier said then done because what happens when we go to pray — the phone rings, the dog barks, the baby cries or someone calls you — and before you know it, you have become distracted. You need to turn the phone off, let the dog out, give the baby a bottle, and put your mind at rest. Spend a few moments with the Lord each day. Why not wake up a few minutes earlier to go read and pray before your day gets started? You will find out that things will go much smoother, and God will help you do all that needs to be done for that day.

I am reminded of that old hymn, “Trust and Obey.” Go ahead and sing the words to yourself. Put your total trust in the Lord obeying all His promises, and watch how your worries will begin to disappear. Your heart will be filled with trust, not worry. The Scriptures even says to “trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Trust and Obey” by author unknown

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,

But is blessed if we trust and obey.

But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet.
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Maybe you’ve never asked Jesus to come into your heart to become your Lord and Savior. This is the most important prayer you will ever pray. Do it today and do not wait. Today is the day of salvation, and now is the time of God’s favor. Commit your life to Jesus. Surrender your will and way. Pray this prayer of salvation and mean it in your heart:

Prayer of Salvation

Prayer of Salvation

“Dear Jesus, I am a sinner in need of a Savior. Come into my heart and save me. I want to be born-again. Forgive me of all my sins. Wash me and cleanse me with Your atoning blood. I receive You now. Amen”
If you said this prayer and meant it with all your heart, then you are on your way to Heaven. You’ll be ready for whatever comes your way. This is the most important prayer you will ever pray. I want you to know that God loves you very much, and He has a great plan in store for you! Walk with Him daily, read His word, fellowship with other believers in the Lord, and find a church that preaches the entire Word of God.

Trust the Lord your God with all your Heart

Trust the Lord your God with all your Heart

When life becomes difficult
Sometimes you find
That it helps if you know
You’re always on my mind.

And I just want to say
That whatever you are doing,
Please remember that I am
Thinking of you !!!

So don’t ever feel lonely
Or full of despair,
If you need me I promise
I’ll always be there!!!

Your friend always,

JESUS CHRIST,

PRAYER:

“Dear Heavenly Father, we humbly cry out to you to make us what you desire of each of us that we may glorify your name in everything we say or do. Have your perfect way in us dear Lord for we are your children and we know that you love us even though at times we feel so unworthy or un-loved. You love us and your love is true for you said in your word you will never leave us nor forsake us,  be near us O’Lord, I pray. May we be the kind of people that are pleasing in your eyes. Dear Lord, thank you that you have us on the potter’s wheel and you are continually changing us. Don’t let us off until you finish the great work you are doing in us no matter how loud we scream and yell to take us off. You are doing an awesome work in each of us that we will be forever changed in your presence. A seed cannot grow unless it dies. With death comes pain. So Lord, let each of us die more to ourselves daily I pray and let the love and character of Jesus reflect in each of us that others may see and be saved I prayed in Jesus’ name, amen.”

John 12:24-25, “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

Dawn's Heartfelt Corner - Touching One Life At A TimeRe-Cap for the months October/November

Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ,
I pray everyone is staying strengthened in the Lord. I feel this is a time that we really need to seek our savior. We are living in the last days and we so desperately need God’s wisdom and direction in our daily decisions. Things are changing daily and we need to hear from the Holy Spirit on a continual basis. We have not been doing a lot lately just waiting on our dear savior for his direction. The Lord keeps telling me that unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies it cannot bear any fruit, John 12:24-25. We are his children and God disciplines us before he does the rest of the world because he loves us. No discipline at the time seems pleasant but painful but God disciplines those he loves. God loves us so he will discipline us for our good that we may share in his holiness when he comes to take us home to live in his kingdom, Hebrews 12:10-11. The same goes for a father that disciplines his son or daughter. If you were not disciplined then you would be illegitimate children and not true sons, Hebrews 12:7-9.
We will finish up this year doing a few things. I have started having a communion service at the nursing home on Tuesdays and I’m having a prayer meeting once a month there on Saturdays. God keeps telling me not to despise small beginnings. We need more volunteers! So, if you would like to help me on Tuesday afternoon to help minister communion to the elderly while we worship, bring a shot word and pray for the sick your help is needed. Feel free to e-mail us on our website at: www.dawnsheartfeltcorner.org leave us your phone number and e-mail address or you may call our phone line at 407-245-7371 and leave us a message. Thank you for your wiliness to help. God will bless you for your faithfulness onto him. Right now I am doing it alone. I believe for God to perform great miracles soon and the outside public is soon to join us. Our God is in the healing business and nothing is too hard for him! Praise the Lord! There is one lady who lies on a mat and cannot speak but I believe God to heal her so she will get up and talk. Halleluiah! Many are in their wheel chairs; some have bad knees, one gentleman I believe for his legs to grow out.
Be in prayer for me I may have an internet radio interview in October with the Bright Feat show that deals with family living, a safety fair in Sanford, Fl coming in November, I have been asked to come back and help the Orlando Brain Injury Support Group, we will probably visit the elderly for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I also want to go to the Pediatric Unit at Florida Hospital of Orlando; visit the sick children, pass out some Christmas cards with poetry I write and give some cuddly stuffed animals. Right now my husband and I pay for everything until the Lord brings forth the funds. We are a 501 © 3 ministry that is tax deductible and all gift offerings can be written off on your tax form at the end of the year. If you would like more information concerning this please write to our ministry. Thank you and God bless you for helping us touch one life at a time and making a difference in our communities and world.
At the end of the year I would like to have a thank you breakfast on a Saturday morning with pastries, bagels, muffins, coffee, orange Juice, at Panera Bread thanking all our United Way volunteer help that has been such a blessing. We will need you to R.S.V.P. to get a head count to see who will be attending this so we can order the food. All of this is not in stone yet and we have to get the date and plan it. Remember, it is just me right now and if you would like to be of a help to our ministry please just let us know. You can also go to the Unite Way website and see what volunteer jobs are needed. Right now, we need for everyone to be flexible until we get enough people to fill the positions. Thanks again to all of you for your help. It is very much appreciated. Keep going in the power of the Lord and a great big thank you to all our prayer partners. This could not be done with out people like you backing us up in prayer on the front lines. God bless you. We love all of you. Have a wonderful fall and Thanksgiving. Don’t forget to thank God for daily providing for all our needs. We serve an awesome God!
