“If You Could Ask For One Thing What Would It Be?”

If you could ask for one thing what would it be? Maybe for a new car, house, debt free, husband, wife, sick free, lose weight, etc. The list goes on and on. David in Psalm 27:4 prayed for only one thing, (NIV version) one thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. That is so beautiful David wanted more from God and no material things would satisfy him. He was so hungry for the Lord he said in Psalm 1-2, as the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Read all of Psalm 42 in your spare time really all the Psalms they are my favorite. David had a heart after the Lord. He made a lot of mistakes but he loved the Lord. You and I are not perfect just forgiven. God never said when you got saved you would be perfect and not make any mistakes. We need to be open to receive His love, mercy, and learn how to forgive ourselves. One time I said to God and this is one of the most beautiful things he said to me. I want to share it with you because it is for all of us. I said, “Lord why do you put up with me because I make so many mistakes?” You know what he said to me and God spoke it so gentle and beautiful to my spirit. He said, “because you have a heart after me.” Isn’t that awesome! David loved the Lord and had a heart after God. That is what the Lord wants from us. This was the greatest commandment Jesus gave us, to love the Lord with all our heart, mind, soul and strength, Luke 10:27. But what do us do? We as humans get so distracted with worldly things we do not make time for God. We put other things before him. Remember the story about Martha and Mary, Luke 10:38-42. It talks about Martha being so busy and distracted doing all the work herself wanting Mary to help her. But Jesus told her only one thing was needed and Mary has chosen what was better. Go read the whole scripture so that you will be trained up in the word of God. The bible says that my people die for lack of knowledge, Hosea 4:6. The year 2011 is here and many I know get very

depressed after the holidays because their hope and trust is not in a higher power. They feel they have nothing to look forward to but I am here to tell you the best is yet to come! I say that to you dear saints and to un-believers. God is about to pour out his spirit on all flesh. He says in, 1 Corinthians 2:9, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”—Also in Isaiah 43:19, See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. Maybe you are saying I have heard all of that before nothing good happens in my life. Well friend, I am here to tell you I have been waiting on the Lord since I was 20 years old and I am almost 40 years old. Remember Joseph and how many years he waited? Something like 15 years and Abraham waited to have a child at the age of 100! God takes his time with those he plans on using in a great way. Be encouraged, the greater the trials you go through the greater the glory of the Lord in your life for others to witness. Romans 8:18, consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 2 Peter 3:8-9, But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. Keep waiting my friend and trusting in the Lord he is a faithful God never early or late but right on time!

Maybe you never asked Jesus
to come into your heart to become your Lord and Savior. This is the most important prayer you will ever pray. Do it today, do not wait. Today is the day of salvation, now is the time of God’s favor. Commit your life to Jesus surrender your will and way.

If you said that prayer and meant it with all your heart then you are on your way to heaven and will be ready for whatever comes your way. That is the most important prayer you will ever pray. I want you to know God loves you very much and he has
a great plan in store for you. Walk with him daily, read God’s word, fellowship with other believers and find a church that preaches the whole word of God.

I want to end with this. We serve a great God and 2011 here we come the best is yet to come. If you do not know the Lord he will come and be your best friend, mother father or sister or brother. We as humans are all seeking something. This world has nothing to offer but heartache and pain. God will come and feel your lonely heart with his love, mercy, grace and give you peace and joy in a world full of sadness. Do it today and do not wait. Pray that simple prayer above and make Jesus the Lord of your life! God bless you.

Prayer for the New Year


O God of new beginnings and wonderful surprises, thank you for the gift of a new year. May it be a time of grace for me, a time to grow in faith and love, a time to renew my commitment to following Your Son, Jesus. May it be a year of blessing for me, a time to cherish my family and friends, a time to renew my efforts at work, a time to embrace my faith more fully. Walk with me, please, in every day and every hour of this New Year, that the light of Christ might shine through me, in spite of my weaknesses and failings.
Give us the kindness to hear with compassion,
to offer support,
loving comfort, and care.
Give us the courage to do what is needed,
the wisdom to choose
what is right and fair.
Give us the vision to see what is possible.
Give us the faith
that will help pave the way
for a present that is hopeful,
a future that is peaceful—

January’s Quarterly Newsletter

Greetings Brother’s & Sister’s in Christ,
Happy New Year! 2011 sprung in quickly and it is here upon us. We need to take one day at a time and ask the Lord what he has for us. 1 Corinthians 2:11, for who among men knows the thoughts of a man accept the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Verse 16 says, “For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. This is a new year with new beginnings put your trust in the Lord and look to Him. We serve a great God who is able to meet all your needs whether it is a financial need, spiritual, sickness, lost loved one, etc. Whatever it is put your trust in the Lord. Is anything too hard for the Lord? Nothing my friend! If he saved me from dying in a car crash, hit by a half truck, a car and held up with a gun to my head then I am hear to tell you God can do anything! Fear not my friend what may come our way in the future. Who holds the future together? That is right! God does. He made this universe and he is able to keep you and me from falling. Dear saints it says in Jude 24-25, to him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy-verse 25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forever more! Amen. Don’t lose hope! Take one day at a time remember God’s grace is sufficient. Read all of Matthew Chapter 6:25-34-Do Not Worry. Verse 34, therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Hebrews 10:35-39, so do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, “He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.” But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. Keep going saints and never give up God loves you dearly. God bless you.

You and I are given so much we forget at times to thank the Lord our God. People in other countries do not have all the luxuries that you and I have. They do not have clean water to drink, food to eat, clothes on their back or even a roof over their head. We have so much in our country to be thankful for that God bestows on us daily. If God takes care of the grass my friend will he not much more take care of you? Read Matthew 6:25-34 when you have time-“Do Not Worry.” So much is happening in our nation right now. People are out of jobs, children, adults are sick with our health care benefits that we are losing, foreclosures on homes and people having to buy food using food stamps.
God promises to take care of you and me when we are His children. Psalm 37:25 says, I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed. When you belong to the Lord He provides for His children. God never promised to take care of the world. I have witnessed His help on my behalf at the last minute. There have been times I have been on my hands and knees in desperation crying out to the Lord. Do you not think He does not hear your cries? Psalm 34:17-18, the righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. Verse 18, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
One time my husband and I had one car we were driving. I took him to work every day real early in the morning. That is when we lived with my dad in a two bedroom, one bath. You can read my whole story when my book comes out, “No Weapon Formed Against You Will Prosper.” Those were very trying and difficult times. The timing belt on the car broke and I remember crying out to the Lord on my hands and knees saying, “Lord what are we going to do?” I heard the enemy whisper in my ear “So, now what are you going to do?” Money was tight and we did not have a lot. Every time we had a little saved we had to spend it on some circumstance that always came up. God was teaching us at that moment to trust Him and not live in fear. We ended up fixing the car but we did not want to. It cost more for us to fix the car then to go buy a new one. We went as far as going to a dealership and we had almost signed papers but I had this funny feeling inside. I told Daniel we could not get the car because I heard the Lord telling me not to. Daniel listens to his wife at times. Yes, he makes the final decision but husbands remember God put your wife here as a help mate. So we did not buy the car and it ended up we witnessed to him. We had felt so much better that we listened to the Lord and obeyed him.
So, I am here to tell you if you are going through something right now remember God is never late. He is a right on time God. It may look like he is not going to come through but God is faithful to his promises and will do what he exactly says. Trust Him and Lean on his word not your own understanding, Proverbs 3:5. Read Samuel 13:1-12 where Samuel came to Saul at the last minute but he did not wait to offer the burnt offering. 2 Corinthians 1:20, for no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. Do not give up. Keep standing on the promises of God and watch the Lord come through for you! I want to share this wonderful hymn with you by Don Moen “God Will Make A Way.” I remember God giving me this song in our most difficult hour. My prayer is that it will encourage you, strengthen you and give
you hope that through Christ you can do all things! Stay strong in the Lord. We love you and you are in our prayers. God bless you.

Lindsey’s Story

Lindsey is our eight year old daughter and for the first six years of life she seemed to be developing like most children her age. About a year and a half ago we started to notice a real change in her. She became sad, aggravated easily and her sleep patterns changed dramatically. She was withdrawn and prone to sudden outbursts of anger and suffered from complete “meltdowns” on a regular basis.

As parents, we wanted to help our daughter in any way we
could so we began researching her symptoms. Lindsey
appeared to be suffering from some type of Autistic Disorder.
We immediately started searching for a facility that could
give our daughter the help she so desperately needed.
One of our clients became aware of our dilemma and
referred us to the Cognitive Neuro Science Center in
Tampa, Fl. (www.cns-wellness.com). In June, we drove
to the center to have our daughter tested. After performing
a battery of tests, Lindsey was diagnosed as High
Functioning Autistic, which we were pretty sure she suffered from. What we were not prepared for, was finding out that Lindsey is also suffering from Epileptic Seizures. Some were internal, some were outward, which were determined by her anger outbursts and “meltdowns”.

We were informed that her conditions were “treatable”
and that they could greatly improve her quality of life.
We were told that because of Lindsey’s age, her brain was
still “plyable” and could be re-trained, but time was vital as
a hard casing would develop over her brain and the
treatments would no longer be effective. Her condition
would only worsen and she WOULD develop full blown
Epilepsy.

Therefore, we find ourselves in a position of asking for
your help so that we can help our daughter. We have
always given what we could to others telling ourselves that
if GOD forbid we should ever find ourselves in a similar
situation, we would hope that someone would help us.

A Nation Built On Prayer

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble
themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their
wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive
their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Who can forget that memorable day when our leaders of both parties stood unified and plead with God Almighty to guide our country? Side by side, shoulder to shoulder, our men and women of Congress sang these words:

“Stand beside her, and guide her
Through the night with a light from above.”
Today, many of those same leaders view each other as the enemy. Their time and energy is spent devising ways to defeat one another. Yet darkness still looms over our world. Daylight has not yet come. What appeared to be real unity has vanished as we have forgotten that our true Light comes from above.
Our nation must return to prayer—not just in our homes and sanctuaries, but in our halls of government. Certainly, our troops are praying on the battle fields; their political leaders must do the same. We must cease focusing on ourselves, our parties and our power and turn our eyes to our Provider and Protector. When the darkness is so bleak and it is difficult to see the way, surely we can humble ourselves and seek Divine guidance.
The Library of Congress records the first convening of the Continental Congress, which opened with prayer. Reportedly, George Washington, Patrick Henry, John Jay and other founding fathers bowed their reverently as Rev. Jacob Duche read from Psalm 35:
“Plead my cause, Oh, Lord, with them that strive with me, fight against them that fight against me. Take hold of buckler and shield, and rise up for my help. Draw also the spear and the battle-axe to meet those who pursue me; Say to my soul, ‘I am your salvation.’”
There is tremendous power in prayer. It unifies people under a greater purpose. It removes personal egos and aspirations from the debate. It says, “Not our will, Lord, but Yours.” If ever we needed prayer for guidance, as well as protection, it is now.
War is not new to ….America….. Even before the “….united states….” became a nation, our enemies sought to destroy the ideals for which we stood. The enemies of freedom, however, have not always come from beyond our borders. After four years of a war far bloodier than the one we face today, President Lincoln closed his second inaugural address with these words:
“With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation’s wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan, to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations.”
Our leaders desperately need the wisdom of our forefathers. Radical religion cannot be defeated when carnal political agendas prevail. We can only be saved by a Higher Power. Victory begins when we fall to our knees in fervent prayer. Often, the only way up is down.

A Prayer for Our Nation

We ask you to join with us wherever you are, for prayer and meditation for the future of your nation, with the following prayer:
May we as nation be guided by the Divine to rediscover the sacred flame of our national heritage, which so many have given their lives to safeguard;
Let the wounds of separation and division be healed by opening our hearts to listen to the truth on all sides, allowing us to find a higher truth that includes us all;
May we learn to honor and enjoy our diversity and differences as a people, even as we more deeply touch our fundamental unity;
May we, as a people, undergo a transformation that will draw forth individuals to lead our nation who embody courage, compassion and a higher vision;
May our leaders inspire us, and we so inspire each other with our potential as individuals and as a nation, that a new spirit of forgiveness, caring and honesty be born in our nation;
May we, as a united people, move with clear, directed purpose to take our place within the community of nations to help build a better future for all humankind;
May we as a nation rededicate ourselves to truly living as one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all;
And may God’s Will be done for the ….United States…., as we, the people, align with that Will.

Greetings Brother’s & Sister’s in Christ,
Summer is over and fall is here. The days and hours keep ticking away until the return of our great King! Things have been moving slow in the ministry but God has His timing for everything. We must all learn to wait upon the Lord and seek him diligently for the times are changing. Our times are in his hands, Psalm 31:15, But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands. What a great God we serve! He is always watching over you and me. His eyes are on the birds of the field and watches over them continually. How much more important are you? In your spare time Read Matthew 6:19-34-“Do Not Worry.” I have decided to write this newsletter quarterly since I am keeping so busy doing most of the work myself and of course my husband that helps me a lot with a few volunteers that have stuck by our side. We want to stop and thank them for their faithfulness. May the Lord bless them in a great way that only he can. We are in need of more volunteers. If you would like to volunteer your time please call our prayer line at 407-245-7371 or you can send us an e-mail. Maybe you have a prayer. We are here for you. As we wait upon the Lord we will mount up with wings like the eagle, run not grow weary, walk and not faint, Isaiah 40:31. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us not in our own flesh but in God’s strength! I know many are hurting right now with the economy- loss of their jobs, sickness and family issues but our strength comes from the Lord. He is our firm foundation. Put your trust in Him. For God’s word says He will never leave you nor forsake you. His promises are true but you have to put your total trust in Him. You are not saved by what you do your good works no we are saved by God’s grace! The bible says all of our good works are like filthy rags in God’s eyes, Isaiah 64:6. Stop trying to measure up and be perfect. We are never going to be until we see Jesus face to face. We are all sinners saved by grace. We need to stop judging our brothers but edify and lift them up. Right now, we all need encouragement to face each new day. We do not need others to pull us down or depress our spirits. There are enough negative things going on in our nation right now. We need to try and be a blessing and strength to the weary and lost. People need to know that there is a loving Savior out there that cares and loves them no matter what they have done. Jesus is coming soon. Quit worrying about what others are doing and focus your attention on yourself. Are you doing what you are supposed to do? God is not going to ask you about someone else no He is going to talk to you about the way you are living your life. These type of people are busy bodies and man pleasers not God pleasers. God is looking at the hearts of all men not our motives or actions but our hearts! Is your heart clean or is it wicked? Search your heart and see what is in your heart before you cast a stone at another. The heart is deceitful and wicked above all things who can understand it except the mind of the Lord. Read all of Mark Chapter 7:23-It talks about the heart being clean and unclean. Also, read 1 Corinthians 4:3-5 the motives of man’s heart and Jeremiah 17:9-10, God searching the heart. There are several scriptures we could turn to but I am only giving you a few. This word I am giving you is for me too! Everything the Lord has me share with you is for me. I need all the help I can get so if you do not need it I will preach to myself. Keep going strong in the Lord. Don’t give up for our redemption is drawing nigh and Jesus is returning very soon! God bless you saints. Never forget how much the Lord loves you and so do we. Keep going strong in the Lord one foot in front of the other. God bless you.

“The BP Oil Spill is the Beginning of a Famine.”


On this quarterly newsletter I want to touch on the BP oil spill we have been having, give some facts and speak about what I believe God is doing in these end times we are living in. The Deep-water Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, started April 20, 2010. What’s an oil spill? Here is a short description from the Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. An oil spill leak is a release of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon that goes into the environment due to human activity, and is a form of pollution. This term often refers to marine oil spills, where oil is released into the ocean or coastal waters. There are different kinds of oil spills. Oil spill leaks include releases of crude oil from tankers, offshore platforms, drilling rigs and wells, as well as spills of refined petroleum products (such as gasoline, diesel) and their by-products, and heavier fuels used by large ships such as bunker fuel, or the spill of any oily refuse or waste oil. These type of spills may take months or even years to clean up. The gusher is now estimated by the quasi-official Flow Rate Technical Group to be flowing at 35,000 to 60,000 barrels (1,500,000 to 2,500,000 US gallons; 5,600 to 9,500 cubic metres) of crude oil per day, originates from a deepwater wellhead 5,000 feet (1,500 m) below the ocean surface. All we have to do is look around and we will see biblical prophecy being put into place. Many want to turn their heads away and think it will go away but that is not true. God is trying to wake up America! When will we listen? If we do not start praying as a nation, repenting to God and turning away from our wicked ways we are about to see the downfall of a great nation. “If my people, who are called by my name; will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land, 2 Chronicles 7:14.” I believe in my own opinion the mammals being killed out in the ocean are setting the stage of a great famine. You can also see where we have had a lot of rain killing the crops and drought where no crop has grown. In the grocery stores prices on food have increased, gasoline prices have gone up and many big businesses are doing layoffs and using shorter labor cutting back on their costs. Some places have had mass floods killing people and we have had numerous earthquakes. God did say in his word “once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens,” Hebrews 12:26. We do not know exactly what it is or the time frame but we know God is going to do something. That means you and I must be prepared for the storm. I am speaking about a spiritaul storm not a natural one. We get ready in the spirit by praying, maybe even fasting a meal here or there and seeking the Lord’s face. It is so important in these last days to be positioned where the Lord has you. Do not be out of God’s will! I say it again, stay in the Lord’s will! When you make decisions on your own counsel and do not seek God’s you are putting your life in danger because there is coming a day where there will be mass confusion. People will be running here and there because of fear and tormoil. Read All of Matthew 24-“Signs of the End of the Age.” I am not pre, mid or post tribulation preacher. I believe in Jesus and him alone. No man knows the day or hour but we will no the time period when the Lord is returning. Our job is to make sure we are ready when Jesus returns. Read on the 10 virgins in Matthew 25:1-13. Five of the virgins were foolish and the other five were wise. The wise took oil in jars for their lamps but the foolish ones did not take any. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight, the bridegroom came and all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish virgins wanted oil for their lamps but the wise did not have enough. The foolish went to go buy oil and while they were gone the bridegroom came and the wise went into the wedding banquet with him. Later, the others came, knocked and wanted in “But he replied, ‘ I tell you the truth, I don’t know you. Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.” You do not want to be left behind. That door will one day close.

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico become an Environmental Catastrophe. It’s a river of oil flowing from the bottom of the Gulf with an estimate at rate of up to 5,000 barrels (210,000 gallons) aprox. a day and could continue for another 90 days if the leak isn’t contained.

The nation’s worst environmental disaster, threatening hundreds of species of fish, birds and other wildlife along the Gulf Coast, one of the world’s richest seafood grounds, teeming with shrimp, oysters and other marine life.

For more than a decade, we had fought for human safety and environmental protection and it’s time we stand up to work together taken particular interest in protect the world environment. The recovery of the coastal and marine ecosystems affected by the disaster cannot be ignored like the Exxon Valdez and Prestige spills.

We the people must understand we are a nation and whatever happen affects each one of us.

If you said that prayer and meant it with all your heart then you are on your way to heaven and will be ready for whatever comes your way. That is the most important prayer you will ever pray. I want you to know God loves you very much and he has a great plan in store for you! Walk with him daily, Read God’s word and fellowship with other believers in the Lord and find a church that preaches the whole word of God.

Give God Thanks In Everything!

Praise should be a daily part of our lives whether we are driving down the road in our car, cleaning our house or on our job working. The bible says a cheerful heart does a man good but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. God wants us to be thankful for all things and in all circumstances no matter what is going on in our lives. When I wake up in the morning I say, “Good-Morning Lord.” There are nights when I’m so tired that before I lay down and shut my eyes to go to sleep, I say, “Lord, thank you for the bed I have to sleep on.” One day I was making my hand me down bed. Everything Daniel and I own have been used items that were given to us. I was complaining to the Lord and telling him how my brother has a nice house with wood floors and God began to speak to me. He told me how he was a man just like you and me but had no where to lay his head. Matthew 8:20, Jesus replied, Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head. I immediately went to the Lord and had to repent. You and I have so many blessings that are bestowed upon us daily that we neglect to thank the Lord for. The Lord daily blesses us with clean drinking water, warm hot baths we can take, and an abundance of food. My prayer is that we would never take God’s goodness for granted. The way our economy looks today we have a lot to be thankful for. We are blessed to have jobs, shelter, food and all our daily needs provided for. There are many not as fortunate as you and I in other, foreign countries. Philippians 4:19 and my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. We do not need to fear but put our trust in the one who holds our future. So today, find something to give God thanks for!

This year we have had a mass number of earthquakes already being that a quarter of the year has already past. We are definitely living in the last days before the return of our Savior. Turn with me in your bible to Luke 21:10-12, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. You and I do not need to fear because Jesus spoke about these signs of the times and told us what is to come. Do Not Fear! Luke 21:28, “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” Verse 34 and 35 says, “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drukenness and the anxieties of life,

and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” The world is changing and if we are not careful we will change too. This word is for me as well as you! People are out of work, have finanial needs, tired, weary, hurting and suffering in spirit and body. Hebrews 10:25 says, let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Many will turn away from the faith as times passes on and trials increase. Will you? 2 Timothy 4:3-5 for the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn aside to myths. Verse 5, But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. I love this passage of God’s word. It is so encouraging. In your spare time read Hebrews 10:35-39. This talks about God’s righteous one living by faith and not shrinking back. About a month ago I was kneeling, praying before the Lord and crying out to him. I said, “Lord, please do not let Daniel and I backslide. We have paid such a high price to get where we are at. I love you and do not want to fall back into the world in my old ways.” Do you know what the Lord said to me? The Lord is so precious. His presence came into my bedroom so sweetly and said something to me that really touched my heart. I want to share it with you to encourage you no matter where you are at in your walk with Christ. The Lord gave me that scripture in John 10:27-30. I heard him say NO ONE CAN SNATCH YOU OUT OF MY HAND. I AND THE FATHER ARE ONE! Halleluaigh! That just encouraged my heart so much I was leaping for joy. My prayer is that it will encourage your heart too and build your faith. Nothing is impossible with the Lord no matter what you are going through right now. Know that Jesus is in the boat with you to carry you through. Trust his unseen hand at work in your life. He promised to never leave you nor forsake you. He will provide all your needs and he says, “I have never seen the righteous forsaken or begging bread, Psalm 37:25. I want to end with giving you the whole passage of Psalm 23. Call on Jesus today he loves you! God bless you.

A Prayer for Our Nation

We ask you to join with us wherever you are, for prayer and meditation for the future of your nation, with the following prayer:
May we as nation be guided by the Divine to rediscover the sacred flame of our national heritage, which so many have given their lives to safeguard;
Let the wounds of separation and division be healed by opening our hearts to listen to the truth on all sides, allowing us to find a higher truth that includes us all;
May we learn to honor and enjoy our diversity and differences as a people, even as we more deeply touch our fundamental unity;
May we, as a people, undergo a transformation that will draw forth individuals to lead our nation who embody courage, compassion and a higher vision;
May our leaders inspire us, and we so inspire each other with our potential as individuals and as a nation, that a new spirit of forgiveness, caring and honesty be born in our nation;
May we, as a united people, move with clear, directed purpose to take our place within the community of nations to help build a better future for all humankind;
May we as a nation rededicate ourselves to truly living as one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all;
And may God’s Will be done for the United States, as we, the people, align with that Will.

The meaning of Easter – What does it mean to you?

The meaning of Easter is Jesus Christ’s victory over death. His resurrection symbolizes the eternal life that is granted to all who believe in Him. The meaning of Easter also symbolizes the complete verification of all that Jesus preached and taught during His three-year ministry. If He had not risen from the dead, if He had merely died and not been resurrected, He would have been considered just another teacher or Rabbi. However, His resurrection changed all that and gave final and irrefutable proof that He was really the Son of God and that He had conquered death once and for all.

However, Easter did not always symbolize Christ’s resurrection from the dead and the meaning of Easter was quite different than what Christians celebrate today. The feast day of Easter was originally a pagan celebration of renewal and rebirth. Celebrated in the early spring, it honored the pagan Saxon goddess Easter. When the early missionaries converted the Saxons to Christianity, the holiday, since it fell around the same time as the traditional memorial of Christ’s resurrection from the dead, was merged with the pagan celebration, and became know as Easter. The meaning of Easter was also changed to reflect its new Christian orientation.

Today, the meaning of Easter, for million of Christians, is that of honoring and recognizing Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead, and His glorious promises of eternal life for all who believe in Him.

Don’t Quit Running This Race

Don’t quit running this race when the road is rough,
Filled with twists, turns and is real tough.
You can’t seem to see your way,
Trudging on can barely make it another day.
Is God still there or does he hide his face?
You must not quit but keep running this race.

Remember this is NO GAME!
He is out to destroy you and take all your goods.
Know the enemy’s plan, he is cunning and deceiving,
Not always understood.
He comes in, tries to sit down and take a place.
Close the door, that devil is a disgrace!
Keep going in the power of Jesus’ Name.
One foot in front of the other that is why he came.

But we are more then conquerors and will not quit.

April’s Quarterly Newsletter Re-cap:
Greetings Brother’s & Sister’s in Christ,
A quarter of this year has already gone by so quickly. I have decided to write this newsletter quarterly since I am keeping so busy doing most of the work myself and of course my husband that helps me a lot with a few volunteers that have stuck by our side. We want to stop and thank them for their faithfulness. May the Lord bless them in a great way that only he can. As we wait upon the Lord we will mount up with wings like the eagle, run not grow weary, walk and not faint, Isaiah 40:31. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us not in our own flesh but in God’s strength! I know many are hurting right now with the economy- loss of their jobs, sickness and family issues but our strength comes from the Lord. He is our firm foundation. Put your trust in Him. For God’s word says He will never leave you nor forsake you. His promises are true but you have to put your total trust in Him. You are not saved by what you do your good works no we are saved by God’s grace! The bible says all of our good works are like filthy rags in God’s eyes, Isaiah 64:6. Stop trying to measure up and be perfect. We are never going to be until we see Jesus face to face. We are all sinners saved by grace. We need to stop judging our brothers but edify and lift them up. Right now, we all need encouragement to face each new day. We do not need others to pull us down or depress our spirits. There are enough negative things going on in our nation right now. We need to try and be a blessing and strength to the weary and lost. People need to know that there is a loving Savior out there that cares and loves them no matter what they have done. Jesus is coming soon. Quit worrying about what others are doing and focus your attention on yourself. Are you doing what you are supposed to do? God is not going to ask you about someone else no He is going to talk to you about the way you are living your life. These type of people are busy bodies and man pleasers not God pleasers. God is looking at the hearts of all men not our motives or actions but our hearts! Is your heart clean or is it wicked? Search your heart and see what is in your heart before you cast a stone at another. The heart is deceitful and wicked above all things who can understand it except the mind of the Lord. Read all of Mark Chapter 7:23-It talks about the heart being clean and unclean. Also, read 1 Corinthians 4:3-5 the motives of man’s heart and Jeremiah 17:9-10, God searching the heart. There are several scriptures we could turn to but I am only giving you a few. This word I am giving you is for me too! Everything the Lord has me share with you is for me. I need all the help I can get so if you do not need it I will preach to myself. Keep going strong in the Lord. Don’t give up for our redemption is drawing nigh and Jesus is returning very soon! God bless you saints. Never forget how much the Lord loves you and so do we!

Do you have a spirit of lust in your heart or is there a spirit of love. Let’s first define that word lust. From the New Webster’s Dictionary the meaning of lust is a longing desire; carnal appetite and depraved affections. The word love says to regard with affection; to like; to delight in. We can lust anything if our hearts are not right with the Lord. The bible says in 1 John 5:15-17, do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. You and I live in this world but we are not of it. Mark 13:31, Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. God’s word is eternal. You and I are not supposed to make this place our home. We are aliens, strangers passing through. Hebrews 11:13-16, all these people where still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on the earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. The more you have the more you want. James 4:3, when you ask you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. Where your treasure is that is where your heart is, Mt. 6:21. Jesus must be your first and foremost love not things. Matthew 6:33, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. Verse 34, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. God knows your needs and he promised to meet them and take care of you but you must put God first in your life. You cannot love anything more then him. Your career, money, family, home life, and hobbies cannot hold first place in your heart. Jesus must be above everything else. Matthew 22:37-38, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all you’re your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.” Does Jesus hold first place in your heart? If he is not your Lord and King and he does not have lordship of your heart in everything you say and do then pray this prayer with me and mean it in your heart. If you mean business so does God. Pray This prayer of salvation, say, “Dear Jesus, I am a sinner, in need of a Savior. Come into

my heart and save me. I want to be born-again. Forgive me of all my sins, wash me and cleanse me with your atoning blood. I receive you now. Amen” If you said that prayer and meant it with all your heart then you are on your way to heaven and will be ready for whatever comes your way. That is the most important prayer you will ever pray. I want you to know God loves you very much and he has a great plan in store for you! Walk with him daily, Read God’s word and fellowship with other believers in the Lord and find church that preaches the whole word of God. Life is too short to play around with your salvation. You can be here one minute and gone the next. I pray you said that prayer and meant it in your heart. What good is it the bible says to gain the whole world and forfeit your soul, Mt 9:25. What good is it? You cannot take anything with you. When you are dead you are dead, no one will remember you. Here today and gone tomorrow. James 4:13-17, Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Verse 15, instead. You ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil. Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins. Where will you spend your eternity when you die? Heaven or Hell? God leaves that choice up to you. He will not force himself on you. You can die at any age you never know when God will call you home. I pray you made the right decision, prayed that prayer with me and meant it in your heart. If you did then you are on your way to a glorious future with a great God! If not, there is still time. Just go back and pray that prayer with me and mean what you are saying. Do not just say words out of fear but really mean them. God sees and he knows your heart. I promise you, you will pray the most important prayer of your life. You will not be sorry you did! Jesus loves you and so do we. God bless you. Go in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Take one day at a time. Jesus promised to be with you and not forsake you, Hebrews 13:5. Let Jesus fill your heart with real love not lust. The joy of the Lord is our strength!

I said a Valentine prayer for you
and asked the Lord above

December/January’s Newsletter

As the year 2009 comes to a close and we are about to start 2010, what is your New Year’s resolution? Is it to stop drinking, smoking, lose weight, be a better parent, grand-parent, spend time with your children? The list goes on and on. These are all great resolutions to follow for the New Near. But have you missed the most important of them all? The greatest thing you can possibly do is have a one on one relationship with your Heavenly Father and spend time getting to know Jesus. He is God’s one and only son who came to earth to die for your sins and give you eternal life. God wants to get to know you and spend some time with you. He loves you. Are you tired and weary? He is your rest. Matthew 11:28-30 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” God can help you do everything else, without him, you can do absolutely nothing. You just keep hitting your head against a wall. Will you let Jesus help you? He wants to. God’s yoke is easy and his burden is light. He can carry your heavy load. Try him, you will not be disappointed! Start this New Year right and walk in all of God’s ways. He loves you very much and wants to help you if you will only let him. Say good-bye to the old and bring in the new. Give your heart to Jesus and make him your Lord and King. If you want that, say, “Dear Jesus, I receive you. I am sorry for all my sins and trying to do things my way. Lord, I need your help. Will you help me? I am so tired and worn out. I need you to make my life brand new in you. Come into my heart, save me, wash me and cleanse me with your blood. Thank you for dying for me on the cross to give me eternal life. Thank you for a brand New Year this will be in you, in Jesus name, amen.” This is the greatest year of all! I am so happy for you. The angels in heaven are rejoicing with you. When one sinner comes to Jesus the angels rejoice. 1Corinthians 15:55-57, “Where O’death is your victory? Where O’death is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! Halleluiah! You are a brand new creation made in the likeness of God. Go share the good news with a family member or friend. Let them know what a great year this will be! You now, know Jesus. No matter what comes your way in life, you can count on Jesus to be right beside you! He is right there, every step of the way. I pray that God will make you steadfast, enduring and able to handle whatever comes your way in this New Year because Jesus is on your side! God bless you. Jesus loves you and so does your spiritual family. Make this a New Year in him!

All that you sought and didn’t find is hidden in me, waiting for you to search it but with more determination.

    Come, Holy Spirit,
    Spirit of the Risen Christ, be with us today and always.
    Be our Light, our Guide, and our Comforter.
    Be our Strength, our Courage, and our Sanctifier.
    May this new year be a time of deep spiritual growth for us,
    A time of welcoming your graces and gifts,
    A time for forgiving freely and unconditionally,
    A time for growing in virtue and goodness.
    Come, Holy Spirit,

    Greetings brother’s and sister’s in Christ,

    This year is coming to a close and we are grateful for all that God has brought us through this past year. Let’s pause and give God thanks for His great gift of love and mercy. This year has been pretty tough with the economy and the changes that have taken place in our nation but we know who holds the future. If Jesus is the center of your life then there is nothing in the future that will shake you because your foundation is built on the rock Christ Jesus. In the book of Matthew, Jesus talks about the wise and foolish builders. Matthew 7:24-27 says, “Therefore everyone who hears these words and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. Verse 26, but everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” God will take care of you and me. When Jesus controls your life there is nothing to worry about. No storm in life will move you because God is your anchor and strong tower! In your spare time read Matthew 6:25-34. I love this because Jesus gives you great comfort and peace not to worry. There will be wars and rumors of wars, famines, earthquakes and nation will rise against nation. These are all signs of the end of the age, Matthew chapter 24. But you and I do not need to fear because God said that this would happen but He promised to protect us and keep us safe. This New Year of 2010 let’s make Jesus our #1 focus. Go to Him in prayer asking for His wisdom and direction you need making important decisions in your life. We are in a time period we need God’s direction when to move and when to stay. It is important for our protection and safety to stay in God’s perfect will. I promise you He will bless you and watch over you in everything you do. Numbers 6:24-25, “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.” Our prayer is that everyone has a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year with family, friends that are dear to you. God bless you.

    There are so many things in life that you and I can choose to worry about—-our finances, job security, paying the bills, or a sickness you or a loved one may be facing. The list goes on and on. Our minds may continually be bombarded with worries and fears that the enemy throws at us, but we must learn to cast them down. As we spend quality time with our heavenly Father, those burdens will begin to vanish. It is not our job to fret. No, it is our job to trust God and obey. The Scriptures even tells us that the battle is the Lord’s:

    All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.(1 Sam. 17:47)

    Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still. (Exodus 14:13-14)

    Sometimes all God wants you and me to do is to be still and let Him fight our battles. That is hard to do because we sometimes feel as though we have to do something to help God in our situation.

    Let’s look at the Bible story where Jesus was at the home of Martha and Mary. (Luke 10:38-41). As Jesus and His disciples were on their way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to Him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work for myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken from her.”

    Everywhere you look people are rushing here and there but who knows where they are going? Even they do not know. Their lives have just become a big rat race, running to and fro. Do you notice that time is going faster and faster? God is speeding up the time. He says in the Bible, that in the last days before the return of Christ, the days would be shortened. Matthew 24:22 , “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect, (those chosen by God), those days will be shortened.” This is all part of the Signs of the end of the Age. Read all of Matthew Chapter 24 . The Bible says in
    Psalm 127:2 , “In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat-for he grants sleep to those he loves.” We are seeing that already. People in other countries do not have food to eat and go to bed with empty stomachs. We must never take God’s goodness of love and mercy for granted. It is important we never become a nation too proud to need God’s help. 2 Chronicles 7:14 , “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” As soon as we do, watch out!
    1 Thessalonians 5:3 , “while people are saying, ’Peace and safety’, destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.” The problem is we have forgotten the Lord and He is not hearing our prayers; He has closed His ears.
    1st Peter 3:12 , “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” Righteous one, God has not forgotten you! God has promised to take care of you.
    Psalm 37:25-26 , “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed.” The righteous always have plenty, more than enough. Their baskets are overflowing with the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Praise God! Read about the blessings and curses in Deuteronomy Chapter 28. As we keep Jesus first place in our lives, love the Lord will all our hearts, souls, and minds. (Matthew 22:37-38): God will always take care of us, saints. You never need to worry; just put your total trust in the Lord
    (Matthew 6:26-34). Do Not Worry. We need to make the most of every opportunity because the days are evil and the enemy is seeking whomever he can devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith because your brothers around the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering, the Bible says. Rejoice and look up, your redemption draweth nigh! Praise the Lord!, “Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. “Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is” (Ephesians 5:15-17). It is so important we find out what God’s will is and not waste our time any longer doing what the enemy would have us to do. He is out to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Are you going to let him? He is out to stop and hinder you from doing all that God has for you to do. God has a purpose and plan in mind for you. In order to find out what God’s good plan is, you must slow down and sit at the Master’s feet. Don’t be in such a hurry. Take time to breathe in the fresh air and smell the beautiful flowers all that God has created. Remember God is the reason we live, move, and have our being. He is our everything! Without Him in our life we are going absolutely nowhere. Today, if you are not sure about your salvation, or you have never asked Jesus into your heart and life, you can be sure you are born-again and on your way to heaven. God has a great plan for you and wants to keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon this whole earth. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and you want to know Him, pray this prayer of salvation with me and mean it in your heart.

    If you said that prayer and meant it with all your heart then you are on your way to heaven and will be ready for whatever comes your way. That is the most important prayer you will ever pray. I want you to know God loves you very much and He has a great plan in store for you! Walk with him daily. Read God’s word and fellowship with other believers in the Lord. Find a church that preaches the whole word of God.


    Prayer of Waiting on the Lord

    Dear Lord I pray I will see my need to quietly wait patiently upon you. Father it is in your strength do I wait and trust you. May I know your guidance, wisdom and direction for all the daily decisions I must make. “Holy Spirit,” I ask you to be with me through out the day, help me to know you love me and are always there to help me. Lord, you never leave me nor forsake me, Hebrews 13:5. Father, let me never be satisfied until I have yielded completely to your perfect will and have allowed you to have your way in me. Your ways are not mine, Isaiah 55:8-9. I trust you dear Lord to make a way where there is no way!

    Psalms 25:5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

    Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

    Psalms 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

    What’s the Big Rush?

    Jesus needs to be

    Dear precious saints,

    I am very sorry I am unable to write the newsletter for July but I will try to get the newsletter out August.

    On another note:

    Things are going to start taking off for “Dawn’s Heartfelt Corner” and we need the help of all those who have made a vow to volunteer. This cannot be done without people like you. Since I am not able to drive your help is very much needed. In time “Dawn’s Heartfelt Corner” wants a few dedicated people that we can trust to make sure we arrive to these events with our materials, help us set up the booth and run it on Saturdays. Also people that will help us on either Saturday or Sunday mornings to visit the elderly in nursing homes for holidays. We will go feed and speak to the homeless but we are still waiting for funds to come in and other positions to be filled. We need a dedicated driver that will help us at all of our events to drive and carry materials. If that is you, please let us know. This position is not based on color, religion or skills just a hard worker wanting to help us with a good heart. Also, we are need of an Assistant to Dawn. Your job will be to go to meetings and all the events I attend. You will work closely with me and speak to the public. We need people to run the booth at all our events. You will pass out literature and talk to the public. In time resources will be available for purchase.

    A WORD IN DUE SEASON!

    I want to talk to you about honoring your father and mother for Mother’s Day/Father’s Day for the months of May and June. In Deuteronomy Chapter 5:16 it says, Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you. This is the fifth commandment of the bible we are to keep. Back in the old days if children did not honor their parents they were stoned to death. Read all of Deuteronomy 21:18-21. A mother nurtures and cares for her child just like the Lord cares for you. Isaiah 66:13, as a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem. You may say, my mother was never there for me. She disowned me at a young age. I was sent to an orphanage and I was adopted and had no parents. She did not care anything about me. The bible says in Isaiah 49:15-16, “can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget you, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” God has not forgotten you and you are not a mistake! The bible says in Jeremiah 1:5, “before I formed you in the womb I knew you…” God knew about you before you were ever born and he loved you. Psalm 27:10 says, though my father and mother forsake me, The Lord will receive me.” That is how much God loves you! He sent his only begotten Son named Jesus to earth to die for you and give you eternal life. Father’s are not to mistreat their children but to bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord, Ephesians 6:4. Father’s are the disciplining factor in the family like your heavenly Father is. He disciplines us for our good so we may share in Christ’s holiness. He does not punish us to harm us but he corrects us when we are wrong because he loves us. That is what our humanly father’s do also. Read Hebrews chapter 12 in your spare time. It talks about “God Disciplines His Sons.” You may say, how can God love me when my own mother and father never even wanted me? God knew about you and loved you before you ever even knew him. Romans 5:8 says, But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we are still sinners, Christ died for us. God had a good plan for your life long ago. Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. God has a good plan for your life. Psalm 20:4, May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. Do you want God’s good plan for your life? Do you feel lonely, unloved, forgotten & rejected? God wants to wrap his arms of love around you. He cares for you very much. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been. Come as you are to the cross of Christ. Say, “Dear Jesus, I feel all alone & unloved. Lord, I need you to wrap your arms of love around me and show me what true love is. Forgive me of my past sins, come into my heart and save me. Although my father & mother forsook me, I know that you will never forsake me. Thank you for dying for me and giving me eternal life. I receive your great plan for my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.” If you said that prayer and meant, I want you to know God loves you very much and he has a great plan in store for you! Walk with him daily. Read God’s word, fellowship with other Christians, and find a church that preaches the whole word of God. God is your father and mother, a sure friend indeed. He sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24, A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. God bless you, Jesus loves you!

    MOTHERS DAY HISTORY

     

    The history of Mother’s Day is centuries old and goes back to the times of ancient Greeks, who held festivities to honor Rhea, the mother of the gods. The early Christians celebrated the Mother’s festival on the fourth Sunday of Lent to honor Mary, the mother of Christ. Interestingly, later on a religious order stretched the holiday to include all mothers, and named it as the Mothering Sunday. The English colonists settled in America discontinued the tradition of Mothering Sunday because of lack of time. In 1872 Julia Ward Howe organized a day for mothers dedicated to peace. It is a landmark in the history of Mother’s Day.
    In 1907, Anna M. Jarvis (1864-1948), a Philadelphia schoolteacher, began a movement to set up a national Mother’s Day in honor of her mother, Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis. She solicited the help of hundreds of legislators and prominent businessmen to create a special day to honor mothers. The first Mother’s Day observance was a church service honoring Anna’s mother. Anna handed out her mother’s favorite flowers, the white incarnations, on the occasion as they represent sweetness, purity, and patience. Anna’s hard work finally paid off in the year 1914, when President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday in May as a national holiday in honor of mothers.
    Slowly and gradually the Mother’s day became very popular and gift giving activity increased. All this commercialization of the Mother’s day infuriated Anna as she believed that the day’s sentiment was being sacrificed at the expense of greed and profit. Regardless of Jarvis’s worries, Mother’s Day has flourished in the United States. Actually, the second Sunday of May has become the most popular day of the year. Although Anna may not be with us but the Mother’s day lives on and has spread to various countries of the world.

    FATHER’S DAY HISTORY

     

    Sonora Dodd, of Washington, first had the idea of a “father’s day.” She thought of the idea for Father’s Day while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909.Sonora wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. Smart, who was a Civil War veteran, was widowed when his wife died while giving birth to their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington state. After Sonora became an adult she realized the selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent. It was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora’s father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father’s Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June, 1910. President Calvin Coolidge, in 1924, supported the idea of a national Father’s Day. Then in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father’s Day. President Richard Nixon signed the law which finally made it permanent in 1972.

    A Parents Prayer

    Oh, God, make me a better parent.
    Help me to understand my children,
    to listen patiently to what they have to say
    and to answer all their questions kindly.
    Keep me from interrupting them,
    talking back to them and contradicting them.
    Make me as courteous to them
    as I would have them be to me.

    Give me the courage to confess my sins
    against my children and to ask of them forgiveness,
    when I know that I have done them wrong.

    May I not vainly hurt the feelings of my children.
    Forbid that I should laugh at their mistakes or
    resort to shame and ridicule as punishment.

    Let me not tempt a child to lie and steal.
    So guide me hour by hour that I may demonstrate
    by all I say and do that honestly produces happiness.

    Reduce, I pray, the meanness in me.
    May I cease to nag:
    and when I am out of sorts,
    help me, O Lord, to hold my tongue.

    Blind me to the little errors of my children
    and help me to see the good things that they do.
    Give me a ready word for honest praise.

    Help to treat my children as those of their own age,
    but let me not exact of them the judgments
    and conventions of adults.
    Allow me not to rob them of the opportunity
    to wait upon themselves,
    to think, to choose, and to make decisions.

    Forbid that I should ever punish them
    for my self satisfaction.
    May I grant them all of their wishes that are
    reasonable
    and have the courage always to
    withhold a privilege that I know will do them harm.

    Guidance & Discipline Techniques
    Disciplining children is not easy. You won’t always feel good about how you handle a situation. It’s important to recognize that you are human. It’s hard to be calm when it would be easier to start screaming to get their attention. The most important thing to remember is talking works much better than hitting and praise works much better than belittling. One approach to discipline that you should never consider is becoming physical with a child. Violence breeds violence and is very dangerous to a child’s or adult’s self-esteem . There is no one right way to discipline. An approach that is successful in one situation may not work in another. The following are some approaches that you can use.
    Setting Up a Safe Environment

    • Children move quickly and they love to climb and explore. Take a close look at your home indoors and outdoors. A fenced-in yard will help keep children away from the streets.
    • Childproof your home by locking up dangerous chemicals and medicines.
    • Problems often arise when children do not have enough toys or materials to play with. A safe place to play and appropriate toys to play with can save you from saying “No” too often and make your day easier.
    • In this day of computers and chat rooms, and so many web sites available, children of all ages should be monitored very closely while using the computer. It’s a good idea to be close by while your child is using it and always be aware of how to block unwanted web sites.

      Internet Safety Tips for Kids

    • Establish a Predictable Routine! Kids need routines and schedules. Their stomachs and high energy levels need nutritious snacks and meals. Establish consistent times for eating, napping for younger kids, and play or leisure time. This helps kids to learn how to pace themselves.
    • In our busy lives it is sometimes hard to make sure the entire family is together at one time. Try having everyone meet at home in time for the evening meal. It is a great way to set a schedule and a way for everyone to share their day together as a family.
    • Set a Good Example
    • Kids of all ages love to imitate adults. Watch your habits because children will be sure to be copying them.
    • If you want your kids to treat each other kindly or have good eating habits, be sure to demonstrate how to do it.
    • Talk about what you do, and explain why in simple terms. The little ones may not fully understand everything you say, but they will begin to understand that there are reasons for doing things a certain way.
    • Children also learn a great deal from each other. Encourage appropriate ways to share and play and be consistent.
    • Praise
    • A little praise goes a long way! It encourages learning, independence, and strong self-esteem. The key to effective praise is to be a coach more than a cheerleader.
    • A cheerleader might say, “Great Job!” A coach gives specific praise to teach and instill self worth. For example, when a child sets the table, you might say, “You did such a good job setting the table! You put the spoons and forks in the right place and remembered the napkins.
    • Remove or Isolate
    • When a child is running out into the street or about to get into an unsafe situation, there is no time for negotiation. You must remove them from the danger. A child may protest loudly, but your primary responsibility is to keep him safe. Sometimes quick action is the only response.
    • Time Out
    • Is just that – a cooling off period. When a child is misbehaving or out of control, he needs to be removed or isolated for a few minutes.
    • Time out can be used with kids ages 3 to 12. For younger kids time out needs to be no longer than 5 minutes or else they will forget the reason for the time out.
    • Follow up by talking with the child about the reason for the time out. With older kids time out can mean being grounded or restricted to their rooms for a period of time.
    • The punishment should be equal to the offense.
    • Ignore
    • Behavior that is not harmful to the child or others can be ignored. The goal is to have the child stop the undesirable behavior by not paying attention to it.
    • This can be effective in some situations with older toddlers and preschoolers. Try withholding all attention praise, and support. Without the desired attention the child eventually quits whatever they are doing.
    • Ignoring really means no attention at all, but if you feel you must respond, you might try “active ignoring.” You may wish to make a casual statement like. “You can scream out here in the hall where it won’t bother me.”
    • The Problem Solving Approach
    • Sometimes children have a behavioral problem that seems to happen over and over. When nothing seems to be working, try the who, what, when, where, and how method.
    • Ask yourself, “When does the troublesome behavior seem to happen?” “What happens just before and after?” “Where does it happen and with whom?” “How do I usually respond?” “How could I prevent the behavior?” “What other approaches could I use?”
    • Take time to sit down and think about the problem. It can help you find a more successful way to handle things.
    • Watch your Language – Use your words carefully and focus on what to do rather than what not to do. Never use profanity with your kids because they will begin to use profanity too!
    • TRY SAYING: “Slow down and walk” INSTEAD OF: “Stop Running”
    • TRY SAYING: “Come and sit by me” INSTEAD OF: “Don’t sit over there”

    TRY SAYING: “Use your quiet voice” INSTEAD OF: “Stop screaming and shouting”

    Recap For The Month May and June

    Dear precious saints,

     

    These re-caps will always be a little behind so I can inform you of what is happening. We take one day at a time and God is opening new doors daily. Please pray that God would send us more volunteers because I am getting very busy. Most of the work is done by God and us alone. The burden is getting too heavy but you and I know God always comes through at the last minute when we are sitting on the edge of our seat waiting. You and I must keep enduring and trusting him especially in these final days we are living in before the coming of our Savior! Here is a brief look at what we have been doing. March 14th I had the opportunity to meet the Mayor of Orlando, a Commissioner and the asst. to the Governor of Florida. We set up a booth at the Hispanic Health Initiatives. Remember, that petition we are trying to pass for the youth on drinking/driving. They are going to get the word out. We were also able to speak to the Spanish Community. One of our volunteers did the interpreting for us and many doors for speaking engagements came open. A Spanish magazine wants to do an article on us. They were very good to us and they have an event in June at the camp grounds and they have asked me to set up a booth there as well. March 21st I attended Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer’s Neighborhood & Community Summit which I met a lot of different organizations and I took some classes that were offered on grant writing. At the end of March, I was at an event where Congresswoman Corrine Brown had and I was able to meet some new faces. Then in April for Good Friday, we went to Consulate Health Care where I distributed communion for the elders in the nursing home. On Easter, we went back there and passed out poetry I write, put stickers and confetti in plastic eggs to give to the people a little something. They are like little children. Then I gave a word to them at lunchtime and we sang some old hymns. They were blessed and so were we to see how the Holy Spirit moved that morning. God’s presence was felt on Good Friday and Easter. We serve an amazing God! The following week April 18-19, we set up a booth at the 16th annual Hispanic Business & Consumer Expo at the Orange County Convention Center. This was a big event with several sponsors like Orlando Magic, Local channel 6, The Orlando Sentinel and others. I had an opportunity to go around the different booths and connect with different chambers of commerce like Brazil, Puerto Rico and Asia. Many newspapers I need to contact and a Christian radio station as well. I was able to speak to someone fro Orlando Magic, the basketball team. I found out what we need to do to get one of their basket ball players who do the public speaking to help us on our video we are still working on for the kids in school. I contacted our video crew and we have to send over papers on letter head to find a time to shoot the video. I am now taking the role of a public speaker officer for Brain Injury of Orlando Support group-www.orlandobraininjurysupport.org which I believe will open up several new doors. My goal is to shoot the video in there at one of our monthly meetings where I can speak and we can interview Marie-Terese, who is the chairman and get the Brain Injury Association of Florida involved. This is a lot of work but we know in God’s timing He will bring everything together! We continually think of you and pray for you daily. May our Lord keep you strong in him and encourage you always to continue serving Him in Christ’s power! Happy Mother’s Day and Father’s Day to all the parents.
